In this section, you will learn the process about breakr.

You have to make your account before you use breakr. On this page, you can make it. Making your account is required Open ID. If you don't have it, you have to get Open ID from some Open ID providers.

enter details

You should enter user name and select studying language - Japanese or English. User name must not be occupied, and it's required between 3 and 32 characters.

add bookmarklet to your browser

You have to add bookmarklet to your browser to notify an article you have read. An explanation of bookmarklet is here.

read Japanese articles

First, you read an article. Let you see popular articles or introduced articles when you don't know what articles you read. Second, you use a bookmarklet to notify breakr that you did it.

Read

You can keep a record how much read an article with a slider when you read on the way.

Understand

You can keep a record how much understand an article with stars.

Tag

Tag likes folder. It's used to classify articles. Tagging articles make it convenient to reference them. You can put two or more tags delimited by space.

write a comment

On article information page, you can write a impression of the article, or question other people on the part that doesn't understand. You can write a comment of an article after you have read.

translate

On article information page, you can translate an article from Japanese into English. You can also correct translation that other people wrote. You can write a translation of an article after you have read.

introduce

You can introduce English article to Japanese people by the bookmarklet of introducing. Let's write a summary or an impression of an article to introduce it to Japanese people.

top page

You'll see popular, recent, and introduced articles on top page.

Clicking icon under the right of each article, you add it to mypage with 0 Read. Please use it if you want to read an article later.

You can see articles narrowed by the word you input text box under "Search breakr". Narrowing is done in the word that corresponds to the title or the outline of the article.

You can see or edit articles you have read on mypage.

Editting articles

You can edit Read, Understand, and Tag after you click "Edit" under the right of each article. The change is reflected by pushing the Submit button.

Achievement

Your achievement of your object is displayed in the graph. The spindle is a date a horizontal axis, and is a number of total characters or number of total articles.

Searching by tag

You can see articles attached the tag you click. Please refer to here for tag.

Searching

You can see articles narrowed by the word you input text box of "Search breakr". Narrowing is done in the word that corresponds to the title or the outline of the article.

setting page

You can edit user information on setting page (required sign in).

Public or Private

You can select whether your mypage is public or private. Default setting is public.

Goal

You can set your goal in number of articles or characters. Default setting is articles.

Bookmarklet

Bookmarklet is a program using a bookmark of a browser. In breakr, you can notify breakr to read or introduce the article with the bookmarklet.

Please add the following link (bookmarklet) to your browser's toolbar by dragging it
or right-clicking on it. Clicking the bookmarklet while reading a Japanese article,
the article will be added to your reading history.

You can notify breakr to read an article with this bookmarklet while seeing an Japanese article.

Adding the following link (bookmarklet) to your browser's toolbar and clicking it,
you can introduce an English article to Japanese users.

Clicking "add to breakr" while reading English article, you can save it to other social bookmark services.

Article Information

Clicking "X readers"(X is numerical), you'll go to article information page.

Translation

Clicking edit button at the right of English Translation, you can write English translation. You can write translation of the article after you have read.

Introduction

Introduction sentence written by Japanese people is displayed.

Comment

You can write an impression of the article, and question other people on the part you doesn't understand. You can write a comment of the article after you have read.

Mark this article as "Read"

Clicking link of 'Mark this article as "Read"', you'll notify breakr to read the article without bookmarklet.
